Item Open Access Adoption of Electronic Records Management System in Managing Patients Records at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.(Kabale University, 2022) Musiimenta, LuckyThis study was about the adoption of an electronic records management system in managing patient records at Kabale regional Referral Hospital. It was guided by specific objectives which included; establishing the availability of Electronic Records Management Systems in Hospitals, finding out the benefits that have accrued with the adoption of Electronic Records Management Systems in Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, investigating the strategies employed for effective management of patients records in Hospitals and to identify the system challenges encountered in managing patient records Hospitals. The study used a cross-sectional study design where qualitative research design was used. The study targeted a population of 100 Participants and a sample of 80 Participants using the Morgan and Krejen table. The study used an interview guide and observation methods to collect data from Participants who were patients, hospital administration, and records personnel. The study found that the adoption of an electronic records management system for managing patient records in Kabale Regional Referral Hospital in Kabale District the control quality of information improves the filing system, Regulate and oversees actions and decisions, improves information handling and allows quick retrieval, Reduces operating costs, foster professionalism and avoid records redundancy. Participants gave the challenges as low service quality due to lack of qualified staff, followed by inadequate knowledge, Lack of security and privacy, technological changes, unstable power supply, additional operating costs, computer viruses, and lastly information hacking and misuse Possible ways of improving electronic records in Kabale Regional Referral Hospital were installation of anti virus soft wares which was ranked highly by the Participants followed by regular change of passwords, using only trained personnel, Restrictions on access to records, have stable power supply, Records be maintained in its Cycle, have a backup system and more workshops be provided to all records keepers at Kabale RRH for proper maintenance of records. then finally the study recommended that there is need for the hospital to increase its training programs or workshops in electronic records keeping to the record managers, recruit trained personnel and the records and information keeping department should keep viruses monitoring soft ware's updatedItem Open Access Adoption of ICT Banking Services and Performance of Selected Commercial Banks In Kabale Municipality: A case of Equity And Stanbic Bank.(Kabale University, 2021) Ndayambaje, DenisThe study assessed adoption of ICT banking services and performance of commercial banks in Equity and Stanbic, Kabale District . The objectives of the study were to identify ICT banking services offered to clients, to determine the effect of integrating ICT banking services on performance of the commercial banks and to analyze the challenges affecting adoption of ICT banking services in the banks. A mixed methods approach was used and a cross-sectional research design. The study population consisted of 283 respondents. Data was collected using Questionnaires, interviews and the observation method. Both random and non random sampling techniques were used including; cluster, simple random, stratified and purposive sampling to recruit respondents in the study. Findings revealed that ICT banking services offered to clients at Equity and Stanbic banks included; electronic banking services, internet banking services, mobile banking services, decision support system and social media outreach. The effect of integrating ICT banking services on performance of the commercial banks, indicated that ICT improved the quality of banking services, and reduced long bank cues. The challenges affecting adoption of ICT banking services included; communication errors, slowing down ICT systems and equipment, ignorance by majority of the customers about ICT usage especially online services, failure of the bank customers to own ICT gadgets to access online services and lack of information on available ICT banking services. The study recommended that the banks should promote use of ICT services to all its clients since ICT enhances service quality, constant and consistent service availability, reduces errors and data redundancies and saves time by offering fast service delivery. Banks should incorporate and invest in technology since technology is an important aspect in the alignment of information systems with business strategy. Keywords: Adoption, ICT Banking Services, Performance, Selected Commercial Banks, Kabale Municipality, Equity, Stanbic BankItem Restricted Assessing the Factors Affecting the Adoption of Organic Farming Practices in Banana Cropping System in Kamwenge District.(Kabale University, 2024) Tukasingura, FrancisThis study assessed the factors influencing the adoption of organic farming practices in banana cropping systems in Kamwenge District. The research aimed to identify existing organic farming practices, analyze the relationship between social, economic, and institutional factors affecting adoption, and examine the influence of institutional support on these practices. Utilizing a descriptive survey design, the study collected quantitative and qualitative data from 67 respondents through structured questionnaires and purposive interviews. Key findings indicated that crop rotation and cover cropping were the most prevalent practices, while compost application and Integrated Pest Management were less commonly adopted. The analysis revealed that male-headed households were more likely to apply compost and mulching compared to female-headed households. Higher education levels correlated positively with the adoption of IPM, while access to credit, extension services, social group memberships, and weather/climate information significantly enhanced the adoption of various organic farming practices. The study concluded that enhanced institutional support, educational initiatives, and financial resources were critical to promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Recommendations included improving education and extension services, developing policies to support compost and cover crop usage, and strengthening institutional frameworks to facilitate access to credit and extension services. These measures were deemed essential for increasing the adoption of organic farming practices and achieving sustainable banana production in Kamwenge District.Item Restricted Extent of Adoption and Use of Library Catalogue by Students of Bishop Barham University College in Kabale District.(Kabale University, 2024) Owembabazi, DaphineThis study explored the extent of the adoption and use of library catalogue by students of Bishop Barham University College in Kabale District. It adopted a descriptive survey research design using a questionnaire as an instrument of data collection. Copies of the questionnaire were distributed to 70 respondents (students, administrators and staff users) randomly out of which 66 copies were retrieved and used for the study. Data collected were analyzed using tables for clarity and ease of comprehension. The findings revealed that most of the respondents 40 (61%) were aware of the library catalogue to a very great extent, while 5 (8%) were not aware of the library catalogue at all, most respondents 32 (48%) preferred to physically browse through the library shelves; most respondents 48 (73%) found the use of OPAC very difficult. Meanwhile, 52 (79%) respondents found using the card catalogue very easy. The study also revealed that the respondents were facing constraints in using the library catalogues for information retrieval, these included; limited access to computers, unclear instructions on how to use the catalogue, time wastage when using the card catalogue and poor understanding of meaning of information on card catalogues amongst other catalogues. The study, therefore, recommended among others that the library should organize orientation and user education programmes as measures for creating awareness and encouraging the utilization of the library catalogue amongst students of Bishop Barham University College.
