Item Restricted Assessing the Effects of Tourism Activities on the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Among Communities of Rubanda DistrictUganda.(Kabale University, 2024) Ahabwe, John BrightonThe study was about the impact of tourism on the preservation of cultural heritage in Rubanda District has been a subject of concern. The study was guided by objectives like to identify the different activities of tourism in the community of Rubanda district, to find out the preservation of cultural heritage among communities in Rubanda district, and to find out the relationship between tourism activities and preservation of cultural heritage in Rubanda district. The study will use a descriptive research design because it aims to obtain information to systematically describe a phenomenon, situation, or population. The study used 168 respondents from 300 as a target population. The study used data collection methods like questionnaire and interview guide due to the nature of respondents under the study. The found out that Rubanda District is near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is famous for gorilla trekking. Tourists treks through the dense forest to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, some respondents also showed the district's forests and wetlands are home to a diverse array of bird species, making it an excellent destination for bird watching enthusiasts. From the findings, some respondents mentioned that traditional music and dance are integral to cultural heritage in Rubanda. Incorporating cultural studies into school curricula to teach younger generations about their heritage, some respondents also showed that storytelling remains a vital method of preserving history and culture, some respondents agreed that the crafting of items like baskets, mats, and pottery is common in Rubanda. Some respondents also showed that tourism brings economic benefits to local communities, providing an incentive to preserve cultural heritage, some respondents also showed that tourism creates employment opportunities for local residents, particularly in guiding. The study concludes that tourism and cultural heritage preservation in Rubanda District are deeply interconnected, creating a sustainable model that benefits the community economically while ensuring that the rich cultural traditions and natural beauty of the region are preserved for future generations. Through continuing to support and develop both sectors, Rubanda District can maintain its unique identity and attract more visitors, fostering a vibrant and resilient community. The study recommends that there is need to involve local communities in the planning and management of tourism activities to ensure their interests and cultural values are respected and promoted. The government and NGOs needs to provide training and support to local communities on managing tourism and preserving cultural heritage. This can include skills in guiding, hospitality, and cultural documentation.Item Restricted Effects of Branding on Customer Loyalty in Hotels: A Case Study of Jevine Hotel Kabusu.(Kabale University., 2024) Kyarisiima, PamelaThe study was about investigating the effects of branding on customer loyalty in hotels. A case study of Jevine Hotel Kabusu. The study was guided by three objectives which were: to find out the factors that contribute to hotel brand loyalty at Jevine Hotel Kabusu, to find out the relationship between branding and customer loyalty, and to identify the practices for hotel managers to improve hotel brand loyalty. A targeted population was 80 respondents who were considered for the study. These included marketing manager, receptionist, waiters, and customers. Both simple random and purposive sampling techniques in identifying the study sample population. The methods that were used in data collection included surveys, observation, and interviews. Data collected was edited, coded, entered into the computer, and analyzed with Excel, a Microsoft statistical package, the results were presented in tables. According to the findings, several respondents agreed that the factors that contribute to hotel brand loyalty at Jevine Hotel Kabusu include awareness, brand recognition, trust and Credibility, image, confidence, trust in Consistency, and Brand Reputation. The study revealed there is a relationship between branding and customer loyalty and these included brand image and perception, consistency in Service and experience, brand Recognition and Trust, Emotional Connection, loyalty Programs and Incentives, and Online Reputation Management. From objective three, the study indicated there is a relationship between branding and customer loyalty and these included brand image and perception, consistency in Service and experience, brand Recognition and Trust, Emotional Connection, loyalty Programs and Incentives, and Online Reputation Management. The study further concluded by showing the factors that contribute to hotel brand loyalty at Jevine Hotel Kabusu including awareness, brand recognition, trust and Credibility, image, confidence, trust in Consistency, and Brand Reputation.Item Restricted Effects of Marketing Strategies on the Performance of Tourism and Hospitality Enterprises in Uganda: Case Study of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.(Kabale University., 2024) Asiimwe, DennisThe study was about the effects of marketing strategies on the performance of tourism and hospitality enterprises: A case study of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The objectives of the study were to assess the different marketing strategies in tourism and hospitality enterprises in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, to identify the role of marketing in tourism and hospitability enterprises in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and to find out challenges facing marketing in tourism and hospitability in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The research used a descriptive study design depending on the characteristics of the study. A sample of 76 respondents was used, and data was collected using a questionnaire directed to technical leaders, politicians, opinion leaders, and other stakeholders (local government staff, tourists, central government) in the area. Data was analyzed using frequencies where percentages were derived for easy interpretation. Findings show that they create engaging and informative content related to travel destinations, local attractions, and hospitality services. Some respondents also showed that leverage popular social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Some respondents agreed that collaborating with influencers and travel bloggers to reach a broader audience. From the findings, tourism and hospitality businesses rely on marketing to create and enhance brand awareness. Effective marketing campaigns contribute to building a positive brand image, which is crucial for attracting new customers and retaining loyal ones. According to the results, sustainability practices were mentioned by the respondents in that encouraging sustainable tourism practices and responsible visitor behavior is crucial. This involves minimizing the ecological footprint of tourists and ensuring that the influx of visitors does not harm the natural environment. The study concludes that over the last two decades, the Ugandan Tourism industry has grown very rapidly as compared to other industries in the service sector and it has the potential to generate employment earn large amounts of foreign exchange, and increase the country’s overall economic and social development. But it’s not a peak point or performance, much more remains to be done. The study recommends there is a need to conduct thorough market research to understand the preferences, behaviors, and needs of the tourists. Tailor the marketing strategies to address the specific interests and demographics of potential customers. There is a need to clearly communicate the unique features and experiences that set the tourism destination, hotel, or service apart from competitors.Item Restricted Effects of Politics on the Development of Tourism Industry in Uganda: A Case Study of Ruhija Sector Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.(Kabale University, 2024) Turinawe, AnthonyThis study explored the impact of political factors on the growth of Uganda’s tourism industry, with a focus on the Ruhija sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates qualitative data from interviews and focus group discussions with quantitative survey responses collected from stakeholders such as local residents, government representatives, and tourists. The findings indicate that while political stability has generally supported tourism development, certain political actions, such as the enactment of anti-gay legislation, have tarnished Uganda's reputation as a tourist destination. Furthermore, governance issues, including corruption and excessive taxation, impede sustainable tourism by undermining infrastructure development and community involvement. The study emphasizes the importance of transparent governance, enhanced infrastructure, and fair distribution of tourism benefits to improve visitor experiences and promote sustainable tourism. It offers practical recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders to address political challenges and foster a resilient tourism industry that supports economic development in Ruhija and Uganda at large.
