Item Restricted Analysing The Elements Affecting Tourists’ Level of Satisfaction in Kabale District: A Case Study of Lake Bunyonyi.(Kabale University, 2024) Akamutuha, MacklineSatisfaction has been found as one of the elements that affect a tourist’s level of satisfaction. Several studies continue to indicate Scenic Beauty as the most significant factors that influence tourist satisfaction this positively increases the level of tourism development, but the extent to which these cases are associated with tourism development trends was not known. This study aimed to fill this research gap. A cross-sectional study in which a mixed method of inquiry was used to collect data using a questionnaire. The questionnaire had both open and closed-ended questions to capture both quantitative and qualitative responses. A sample of study participants was drawn from the elements affecting tourists’ level of satisfaction. A total sample of 133 participants was selected. Result: Of the 133 participants that were interviewed, 62.4% were male respondents and 37.6% were female respondents) considering the age of respondents, the highest number 47.4% belonged to the age group of 31-40years Conclusion: The study found that Scenic Beauty was 92% being the most factor that influenced tourist satisfaction this positively increases the level of tourism development in Kabale district: a case study of Lake Bunyonyi.The study proposed the following recommendations; Increase awareness of the level of satisfaction and importance of promoting tourists' satisfaction, Develop and implement intervention and sustainable tourism programs to address new satisfaction of tourists, Train employees on new technologies and the benefits in promoting and developing, Conduct further research to gain a better understanding of the complex relationship between tourists satisfaction development, development of tourism industry and the community involvement in the context of kabale municipality. .Item Restricted Assessing the Factors Affecting the Adoption of Organic Farming Practices in Banana Cropping System in Kamwenge District.(Kabale University, 2024) Tukasingura, FrancisThis study assessed the factors influencing the adoption of organic farming practices in banana cropping systems in Kamwenge District. The research aimed to identify existing organic farming practices, analyze the relationship between social, economic, and institutional factors affecting adoption, and examine the influence of institutional support on these practices. Utilizing a descriptive survey design, the study collected quantitative and qualitative data from 67 respondents through structured questionnaires and purposive interviews. Key findings indicated that crop rotation and cover cropping were the most prevalent practices, while compost application and Integrated Pest Management were less commonly adopted. The analysis revealed that male-headed households were more likely to apply compost and mulching compared to female-headed households. Higher education levels correlated positively with the adoption of IPM, while access to credit, extension services, social group memberships, and weather/climate information significantly enhanced the adoption of various organic farming practices. The study concluded that enhanced institutional support, educational initiatives, and financial resources were critical to promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Recommendations included improving education and extension services, developing policies to support compost and cover crop usage, and strengthening institutional frameworks to facilitate access to credit and extension services. These measures were deemed essential for increasing the adoption of organic farming practices and achieving sustainable banana production in Kamwenge District.Item Open Access Factors Affecting Immunization Coverage for Children Under Five Years in Rwanyamahembe Sub-County, Mbarara District- Uganda.(Kabale University, 2022) Omia, SantosThe study was focusing on the factors affecting immunization coverage for children under five years taking Rwanyamahembe sub-county, Mbarara district as a case study. The specific objectives were to; determine the level of expanded program on immunization (EPI) service coverage, identify socio-demographic and institutional factors affecting with EPI service coverage. The study adopted cross- sectional study design employing a quantitative approach for data collection. Information was gathered from 120 respondents using questionnaire and interview guide. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 18 to generate both descriptive and regression statistics. The study found out the level of expanded program on immunization (EPI) service coverage to be relatively low as evidenced by few respondents who had children that are fully vaccinated as compared to majority who did not complete vaccination. The study also identified socio-demographic factors affecting EPl service coverage in the area such as lack of information about immunization, age of the mother/guardian. level of education. negative experiences with immunisation, possession of vaccination cards, sex of the child and accessibility of vaccination sites. The study further identified inadequate funding of the program, perceived shortage of staff, cost of vaccination and vaccination cards, inadequate supply of vaccine stock, inadequate vaccination sites and corruption and embezzlement of funds as the main institutional factors affecting with EPI service coverage. As a result of the significant results, the study concludes that EPI service coverage in Rwanyamahembe sub-county is low due to different socio-demographic and institutional factors. It therefore recommends the provision of vaccine related targeted health education to mothers at home and during ANC visits is an effective strategy to improve immunization completion rates in low literacy and income settings. Supervision of immunization activities by the district EPI focal person. This is key in identifying gaps during static and outreach programs. Emphasis on vaccinators arriving on time and all services given to mothers without a cost.Item Restricted Factors Affecting Male Involvement in Family Planning at Kazo Health Center IV in Kazo Town Council Kazo District.(Kabale University, 2022) Ndyaguma, LabanThe study was about factors affecting male involvement in family planning at kazo health center iv in Kazo town council Kazo district. The study was guided by the following study objectives: To find out the level of male involvement family usage, relationship between male involvement and family planning utilization and to devise means of increasing male involvement in family planning in Kazo town council . A cross sectional research design was used for this study where both quantitative and qualitative methods were employed, the population of the study included Women, Men, health staff and local leaders. The study revealed that there is low involvement in family planning to the extent that some men have never a companied their wife to the family planning clinic, claiming that they have no time to escort their wives for family planning saying that they are busy looking for money than going with their wives to clinics, more still men some lack information about the use of family planning other than use of condoms. Also male involvement in family planning has a positive influence in their utilization when male involvement increases family planning utilization among married couples increases and vise verse. Among the views pointed out by the respondent's on men's participation in family planning as highlighted in the study also agreed with the related literature like culture factors, religious beliefs, social economic factors and psychological factors, Also suggested some other reasons like Ignorance lack of time false myth and fear of family planning side effects as mentioned by the majority of respondents as discussed during a focus group discussion where they mentioned that condoms cause cancer. Men need more information and education so that they can fully participate in family planning services, support their partners and utilize the services and that Health care providers should conduct workshops or hold social gatherings and inform men about family planning and its importance. On recommendation the government should establishment of men's clinics so that men can feel free to go and utilize the services. It aimed at finding out the factors affecting the teaching and learning of English in Primary schools of Kitumba sub-county, Kabale district, analyzing the effect of the failed attempts to teach and learning of English in Primary schools of Kitumba sub-county, Kabale district, and examining the attitude of pupils to the teaching and learning of English in Primary schools. The study will be carried out Kitumba sub-county, Kabale district. The area is chosen because it will enhance the relevance, precision, and applicability of research findings and it’s nearer for the researcher. Both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies were employed as the research design. The study population ranged from staff members from the selected schools to pupils. Most of the respondents comprised primary teachers and head teachers from the selected schools. The study used both simple random sampling and purposive sampling procedures. The data filled in the questionnaires was copied and analyzed by tallying it and tabling it in frequency tables identifying how often certain responses occurred and later evaluation was done. The information was later recorded in terms of percentages. The recorded data was later edited and interpreted which ensured uniformity, legibility, and consistency. Also, interview results were coded on frequency tables and calculated in terms of percentages and presented in this study. Data was analyzed using various statistical techniques. Regression analysis and Pearson’s coefficient of correlation were carried out using the statistical package for social scientists (SPSS). The study findings showed that was lack of instructional materials is identified as the most significant factor affecting the teaching and learning of the English Language, as indicated by respondents other factors were Low teacher qualification/competency, Limited parental involvement, Overcrowded classrooms, Language barriers, Inadequate training on the new curriculum and poor school infrastructure. The findings obtained in the study indicated that the effect of the factors affecting the teaching and learning of English in Primary schools were reduced access to quality learning resources, ineffective teaching methods, poor Pupil outcomes, lack of support at home, decreased motivation, limited individual attention, poor classroom control, difficulty in comprehension, slower language acquisition, challenges in curriculum delivery, teacher frustration and distraction. From the study findings, it was concluded that there were several critical factors that significantly impacted the teaching and learning of the English language in primary schools. These factors, ranging from resource availability to teacher qualifications and parental involvement, collectively created an environment that could either enhance or hinder English language education. It was recommended that there is a need to allocate increased funding to ensure schools are well-equipped with necessary instructional materials, including textbooks, workbooks, and digital resources and to establish community outreach programs that emphasize the importance of parental involvement. Provide resources and training for parents to support English learning activities at home.Item Open Access Factors Affecting Utilization of Insecticide Treated Nets in Households Among Children Under Five Years of Age in Kazo Town Council, Kazo District.(Kabale University, 2022) Tumwebaze, RodgersThe study was carried on factors affecting utilization of insecticide treated nets in household’s song children under five years of age in Kazo town council, Kazo district. It was based on the owing to find out the socio-economic and cultural factors affecting the utilization of ITNs ~ng children under-five, to identify the institutional factors affecting the utilization of ITNs among children under-five and to establish knowledge of care takers in the utilization of ITNs among children under-five in Kazo Town Council. Methodology: A cross-sectional research design which was both qualitative and quantitative methods for data collection. Approaches were used. Sample size of 92 respondents was -"nsidered which comprised of parents/care takers of under five children and other key informants like, health workers. VHTs and town council health inspector. Information was .:ollected from 92 respondents using questionnaires and interviews. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 21 to generate both descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The study findings indicate that significant socio-economic factors affect utilization of ITNs within households and these include; gender of the household head (p= .017), age of household head (p = .005), level of education; (p< .001) religion(p = .031), household size(p=0.028), income status(p= .031 ), number of children below 5(p= .002), gender of the child(p = .026), age of the child(p = .001), presence of fever a month before the survey and sleeping arrangement(p = .046). The study also identified significant cultural factors affecting the utilization of ITNs among children under-five years to be; misconceptions about malaria and its prevention(p=.017), cultural beliefs(p= .033), poor perception and attitude(p< .001).The study further identified the institutional factors affecting the utilization of ITNs among children under-five years to be awareness (p=.011), access/availability(p= .012), poor coverage(p .031), level of financial investment in ITN distribution(p = .041) and poor quality nets(p .049). Conclusion: There are significant socio-economic, cultural and institutional factors affecting utilization of insecticide in Kazo Town Council. The study recommended that plans be made to increase the number of free ITN s distributed to households, increase in community education and public awareness on ITN use.Item Open Access Investigation of the Major Crop Pest Affecting Ground Nut Production in Kapelebyong District: A Case Study og Adukule Village Kapelebyong Town Council.(Kabale University, 2024) Omoj, ThomasThe developing countries like Uganda for example normally suffer from high economic loss due to damage to valuable crops like groundnuts. The crop is usually under attack by vertebrate pests including rodent and millipede pests and insect pests during the time period of germination, podding, harvesting and storage. This recent research study shows that most of the crop damage and economic loss were caused by rodent pests. Vertebrate rodent pests include Mus musculus (house mouse) Rattus norvegicus caused a very significant damage to groundnuts Rodents damage the seeds, standing crop and food items stored in households. While millipedes always preferred germinating and podding seeds with a good moisture content. The methodology of the study simply consisted of the preparation of trial field from Adukule village in kapelebyong district. The pests that caused damage to the crop were observed during their feeding times; and pictures taken (for millipedes). The results showed that that both rodent pests and millipede pest are all contributing to the declining groundnut production in the country. In order to reduce this loss, some vertebrate pest management practices have suggested in this work which include some mechanical methods for trapping, killing and pushing of vertebrate pests.Item Restricted The Socio-Economic Factors Affecting the Performance of Girl Child in Mathematics: A Case Study of Kanaba Sub-Count Kisoro District.(Kabale University, 2021) Munyabuntu, ReubenThe aim of the study was to examine the socio-economic factors affecting the performance or girl child in Mathematics education. The study was guided by the following objectives, to analyze and compare the boys' and girls' performance in Mathematics, to examine the socio-economic factors affecting the performance of girl child in mathematics education, to find out the ways of improving the performance of girls in mathematics. The researcher used descriptive survey design utilizing mixed research approach. The study findings show that there is influence in girl’s participation in mathematics compared to boys as they include; teachers hold the view that girls are not as trouble as boys in Mathematics as indicated by 20% respondents. beliefs lead to heavy cultural related support for males to be more successful than females as shown by 10% respondents. "parents io-economic level is thought to exercise an independent positive effect in the male. The study recommended that the school administration also needs to give the subject first priority by getting good trained and committed teachers and also show girls the importance of the subject
