Item Restricted Assessing the Challenges Encountered in Accessing Reproductive Health Services By Women: A Case Study Of Southern Division Kabale Municipality.(Kabale University, 2022) Tumuheirwe, MarionThe study was about the challenges to women's access to reproductive health services in the southern division, of Kabale Municipality. The study was guided by objectives namely, to assess reproductive health services provided to women in the Kabale district, to investigate the challenges that limit women's access to reproductive health services in the Kabale district, and to find out the existing strategies for improving the women's accessibility to reproductive health services in Kabale district. The study used cross-sectional survey research design was used in the study. A total of 124 respondents were selected for the study. From the findings respondents showed that they had never received HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC) advice, it was revealed that respondents. Some respondents responded that Inadequate trained staff or transfer of trained and motivated staff resulted in a decrease in the commitment of the remaining staff. Some respondents showed that lack of privacy hinders women from seeking reproductive health services. According to the study, Lack of knowledge about condom use. Although the need for strong legal protection for women is clear, few interventions have been documented or evaluated. Some respondents also reported that this implies that there is a need to sign legal protection policies and regulations on those that misuse young girls and women, this will reduce the rate of conceiving". The study concludes that reproductive health is a critical component of any woman's health. It is widely acknowledged that reproductive health is a concern for all and more so for women, with a rise in cases of reproductive health issues. There is a need for understanding to mitigate negative societal attitudes towards the sexuality of women. Government and non-governmental organizations working in the area of reproductive health should conduct in-depth research and use the results to create awareness and advocate for policies and practices that can promote the sexual rights of women.Item Restricted Examining the Challenges of HIV Positive People With Disabilities in Accessing Medical Services in Rukungiri District: A Case Study of Nyakishenyi Sub-County(Kabale University, 2023) Atuheire, FortunateThe study examined the challenges of HIV-positive people with disabilities in accessing medical services in Rukungiri district: a case of Nyakishenyi Sub County. The objectives of the study were; to examine the HIV prevalence rate among persons with disabilities 111 Nyakishenyi Sub County Rukungiri District, to establish the factors that hinder people with disabilities in accessing medical services in Nyakishenyi Sub County Rukungiri District, and to examine the solutions to how persons living with disabilities can access medical services. A descriptive research design was used and data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. The study findings on the prevalence rate among persons with disabilities, the prevalence rate of females was high compared to the least number of respondents who were males. The study findings on factors that hinder people with disabilities in accessing medical services were; discrimination due to their disabilities, poor assumptions that persons with disabilities are not at risk of contracting HIV and therefore do not require access to HIV prevention, poverty among the people with disabilities, inaccessibility of health services and exclusion of people with disabilities from sexuality education. The study findings on the preventative strategies of HIV among persons living with disabilities were; reduction of stigma and discrimination from persons with disabilities, establishing some programs that can generate income for persons with disabilities, ensuring provision of sexuality education to persons with disabilities, and avoiding poor assumptions that persons with disabilities are not at risk of contracting HIV and therefore do not require access to HIV education. The study recommended that there is a need to adopt appropriate and disability-sensitive channels of communication to disseminate HIV/AIDS messages/information to the community of people with disabilities, there is a need to print HIV/AIDS posters with people with disabilities on them to attract the attention of the public and stir them into positive action and intervention and there should be promotion of adult literacy programs for people with disabilities to enable them to read, write and interpret disseminated HIV/AIDS messages.
