Item Embargo Managing Records as A Strategic Resource. A Case Study of Rubabo People's Sacco Nyarushanje Sub-County Rukungiri District.(Kabale University, 2023) Agaba, AdolfThe study was about managing records as a strategic resource a case study of Rubabo Peoples Sacco. The study used a sample size of 55 respondents and data collection methods, questionnaires and interviews. The research problem was there are various aspects of records management in private institutions and highlighted that there was lack of an efficient and reliable information management systems to keep the track of records, preservation methods, lack of training programs for records managers in order to handle records well, failure to control the creation of records, incompleteness of financial records, poor records management procedures, improper filing systems etc. The researcher's purpose of the study was to explore the management of records as a strategic resource. The researcher used the following objectives to help in the investigations about the problem stated: To investigate the relevance of managing records as a strategic resource in SACCOS and these include; decision making, reference for research and future use, to identify the challenges associated with managing records as a strategic resource in Sacco's and these included lacks of records management training program, incompleteness of financial records failure to control the creation of records and lack of preservation methods, to suggest the possible solutions to challenges encountered in managing records as a strategic resource in Sacco's which included provision of records management programs to control the system, training of records managers on current system, generate preservation policies of records management. Data was collected using both primary and secondary sources. Primary sources involved the researcher's findings from the case study using questionnaires while Secondary sources involved existing literature published in textbooks and periodicals by different authors.
