dc.description.abstractSmart Street Lighting is an automated system designed to enhance the functionality of streetlights. Its primary objective is to minimize power consumption by adjusting light intensity based on the presence of vehicles or pedestrians on the road. The system ensures that streetlights operate at full intensity when vehicles are detected while remaining dim when no movement is present. Automation, which leverages control systems and information technologies to reduce the reliance on human intervention, is increasingly integral to the global economy and daily life. Automatic systems are now favored over manual operations due to their efficiency and reliability. This research focuses on an automated streetlight control system that significantly reduces energy consumption. The Smart Street Lighting system utilizes IR sensors to detect approaching vehicles. Upon detection, a sequence of streetlights ahead of the vehicle switches to high intensity, while the lights behind the vehicle dim automatically as it moves away. This energy-saving approach ensures that when roads are empty, the lights remain dim, leading to substantial energy conservation.
