Abstract
This study performed a physiographic analysis of Kabale Municipality, Uganda, utilizing remote sensing and GIS techniques. The rapid urban growth and population increase in the municipality have resulted in disorganized land use, insufficient infrastructure, and environmental degradation. The goal of this research is to provide a scientific foundation for urban development planning and decision-making by examining the physical environment and its influence on development. Through remote sensing data and GIS mapping, the study will identify and analyze key physiographic factors affecting urban development, such as topography, hydrology, soil conditions, and changes in land use/land cover. The findings will guide sustainable urban development strategies and offer a framework for environmental management in Kabale Municipality. This research enhances understanding of how the physical environment impacts urban development and offers a model for similar municipalities in Uganda and elsewhere.
