dc.description.abstractThe research study mainly focused on examining the effect of customer care on the profitability of selected business enterprises in Kabale municipality-Uganda. The specific objectives were; To identify customer care services available in selected business enterprises in Kabale municipality; to establish whether business enterprises in Kabale municipality are aware of customer care services to offer and to assess how customer care services affects profitability in Kabale municipality. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey design which involved collecting data at a particular point in time that is useful in obtaining facts and perceptions of respondents. The study ample comprised of 124 respondents selected by simple random sampling technique. The sample consisted of 7 business owners/managers, 34 business workers/employees and 83 customers/buyers from selected business enterprises in Kabale municipality. Data was collected using questionnaires to business owners and employees and interview guide to customers/buyers. Data analysis was done using tables frequencies and percentages through qualitative and quantitative analysis hence enabling the researcher to systematically present the findings. The results indicated that generally customer care services were found to have a significant effect on profitability in selected business enterprises in Kabale municipality. The study concluded that the majority of the population in the area are aware of the customer care services and have enjoyed the effects of its use in business enterprises of the area. Therefore the researcher put forward a number of recommendations to act as guidelines for policy makers, implementers and business enterprises in general that business enterprises should always emphasize the use of customer care services as a contributing factor towards profitability of any business enterprise.
