dc.description.abstractThe research was set to find out the effect of remedial lessons on the academic performance of pupils in upper primary classes in Kyanamira Sub County Kabale District. The study was guided by the following objectives; To investigate the effect of remedial lessons on pupils' performance in primary schools and to examine challenges facing remedial lessons in primary schools in the Kyanamira sub-county. The study adopted an embedded research design because the data was both qualitative and quantitative in nature and also was categorized into frequencies and percentages. Data was collected from teachers, and head teachers, it was a sample total of 132 respondents. The findings of the study revealed that there is a positive effect of remedial lessons on pupils' academic performance in primary schools. The researcher made the following recommendations;- Based on the findings, the study recommends the following; To enhance the effectiveness of remedial lessons, the government and other stakeholders should allocate more resources specifically for remedial education. Schools should prioritize creating conducive learning environments for remedial lessons. Continuous professional development should be provided for teachers involved in remedial education. The Ministry of Education should develop and implement a standardized framework for remedial lessons across all schools. Schools should engage parents more actively in their children's remedial education. To prevent burnout and ensure quality remedial education, it is crucial to balance teachers' workloads. Schools should work to reduce the stigma associated with attending remedial lessons. School administrations should take a more active role in supporting remedial education by providing necessary resources, recognizing and rewarding teachers' efforts, and ensuring that remedial lessons are an integral part of the school‘s academic plan. This support is crucial for the sustainability and success of remedial programs.
