Item Open Access Research projects: 2017-2021(Kabale University, 2018) Kabale UniversityDomestically and Externally funded research projectsItem Open Access A Program for Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation (PGDME)(Kabale University, 2018) Kabale UniversityThe PGDME programme runs on a modular programme designed to be completed within 1 year. A module will include five (5) weeks of face to face interaction with facilitators of the courses. The student will be given prepared materials including online resources to continue with learning outside campus. The programme consists of Course works & Examinations and all courses are compulsory to all students. Students who undertake and pass this programme and wish to upgrade to a Masters degree in Monitoring and Evaluation will only do dissertation and related methodology and compulsory second year courses. The overall goal of the Master of Monitoring and Evaluation Program is to strengthen the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability of interventions by governments, civil society and non-government organizations as well as development partners in Sub-Saharan Africa through the development and enhancement of capacity for evaluation The program broadly aims to impart knowledge, skills and competences to students interested in building a career in monitoring and evaluation. Specifically, the program is intended to: -Impart up-to date knowledge, skills and competencies on evaluation within diverse contexts, produce evaluation experts with management skills and competencies in making critical decisions that affect delivery of public services at all levels of society, produce graduates who can design, conduct and manage efficient and effective evaluationsItem Open Access A Program for Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management(Kabale University, 2018) Kabale UniversityThe programme of PGDPPM is a one-year programme and is hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences (FEMS). The programme consists of Course works & Examinations and all courses are compulsory to all students. Students who undertake and pass this programme and wish to upgrade to a Masters degree in Project Planning and Management will only do dissertation and related methodology and compulsory second year courses. Applicants to the Postgraduate Diploma program must meet the general requirements for admission to Graduate Programmes set by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and Kabale University. Specially, applicants must possess the following: A Bachelor’s degree with at least lower second-class honors from a recognized institution; OR Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes and at least two principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education(UACE) obtained at the same sitting, a professional qualification equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized professional body. Applicants to the Postgraduate Diploma programme must meet the general requirements for admission to Graduate Programmes set by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and Kabale University. Specially, applicants must possess the following: A Bachelor’s degree with at least lower second-class honors from a recognized institution; OR Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes and at least two principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education(UACE) obtained at the same sitting. Each semester is 17 weeks of which 15 weeks are for imparting knowledge and skills and 2 weeks for University examinations. The first year consists of two semesters that will cater for class work and fieldwork. During the first two semesters a student will undertake at least three core courses. Two other courses will be taken that include one course relevant to the stream of specialization and another elective course relevant to his field of study making a total of at least five courses. The second-year study will cater for the remaining part of coursework and research. This programme is taught through a blended mode of learning (its taught through both online and face to face classes). The MENR program is a multi-disciplinary program that will admit students with a background in biological science, Agriculture, physical sciences, environment, and natural sciences. For entry into the master‘s programme, applicants should possess: Atleast a second-class degree in Geography, Biology, Agriculture, Land use, Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, Environmental Health, Forestry, Engineering, and Architecture, Any other discipline deemed relevant by Kabale University in accordance with NCHE regulations, The goal of this programme is to establish a new training programme of management in the environment and natural resources, that will use an integrated, multidisciplinary and participatory tools and methodologies to produce quality mid-career level training to scientists to enable them lead efforts to increase the productivity of rural resources, biodiversity, reduce poverty and hunger and combat climate change. This will be achieved through a joint effort and interaction of technical expertise in rural resource management and planning, rural farming communities and national and district planning authorities. Collaborative arrangements with various universities, UN agencies, and research institutions will be made in order to increase the exchange of ideas and adaptive techniques and methodologies. This PhD in Business Administration by Research will be delivered through Seminars, Workshops and Conferences and on-line teaching and learning modes. Applicants to the PhD programmes must meet the general requirements for admission to Graduate Programmes set by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and Kabale University. Specially, applicants must possess the following: an admissible applicant should meet the following criteria:Bachelor’s degree in business related programmes or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution of higher learning, Master’s in business related programmes degree from a recognized university and/or institution of higher learning in a field relevant to the research areas (themes)/area of study, Prior Learning in relevant field that is equivalent to the qualification that is to be pursued. For Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), a prospective candidate shall first get clearance from NCHE to be eligible for admission, Present a concept note of the intended research area but in line with the research themes of the PhD in Business Administration programme at least 2 pages and not be more than 10 pages, double-spaced. It spreads directly from person-to-person through salivary and nasal droplets expelled from an infected person during sneezing, coughing or talking that fall on the soft mucosa of a close by non-infected person (within one meter).Item Open Access Design of a Mobile Mechanical Structure for Agricultural Robots.(Kabale University, 2021) Musinguzi BoscoThis report covers the design of a mobile mechanical structure for agricultural robots that will fit in the current crop spacing using the extendable link mechanism based on a four bar link mechanism linear actuator. This covers the analysis of the steering, suspension spring, singularity with its maximum and minimum angles, wheel arrangement, selection and design. The structural analysis using ANSYS is included to evaluate the strength of the mechanical structure used when in its worst working conditions and the results were presented and included in this report. The problem of farmers buying a mechanical platform for different crop spacing will be solved by this mechanical structure hence reducing the costs involved in agricultural activities and this will be the motivation factor for farmers to practice agricultural activities using one mobile mechanical structure which will solve the problem of unreliable human labour and encourage farmers to practice modernized and precision agriculture. The related work from the related projects is included with n this report since such technology is not new but it needed modification to fit in the current agricultural activities to reduce on the costs involved in carrying out agricultural works. Since there is no economical alternative for food agriculture sector needs serious attention to cater for the increasing global population.Item Open Access Master of Arts in Economics(2021) Kabale UniversityThis programme is conceptualized around the Government’s Vision 2040 and aligns very well with the priorities of the National Development Plan II (NDP II) that seeks to strengthen the fundamentals of the economy through harnessing the abundant opportunities in its various sectors. It also aims at boosting competency and experts in managerial, advisory and academic positions in the in the economics discipline; offering solid training in economics; and will give a deeper understanding of the complexity of economic transformations necessary to transit countries like Uganda, the region and Africa to industrialized and modern economy status.
