    Examining Hotel Standards as a Promotional Strategy for Tourism Growth: A Case Study of Hotels in Kisoro District.

    The study examined hotel standards as a promotional strategy for tourism growth in Kisoro district and the major objectives of the study were to identify different forms of hotel standards in Kisoro district, to find out promotional strategies for the hospitality sector in Kisoro district, and to find out the relationship between hotel standards and promotional strategy in Kisoro district. The research design used was a cross-sectional research design and the methods of data collection used were questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The study findings indicate that there were different forms of hotel standards including; luxury hotels, laundry services, wifi, and promotional strategies toward hotel status including; the use of online travel agencies, brochures, websites, use of personalized marketing. The study concluded that in relation to the problem statement of this study and the study findings, it can be established that, although hotel standards spent on much on promotional strategy. The study recommends that more efforts have to be made to enhance the success of small and medium hotel operators in western Uganda and this should be emphasized in the provision of assistance in marketing and finance.
