Item Open Access Analysis of Stakeholders Involvement in the Implementation of the M.A. Literature Curriculum at Kabale University Using E-Learning Approach(East African Journal of Education Studies, 2021) Johnson, Ocan; Constance, Tukwasibwe; Chrisostom, OketchThe purpose of the study was to report on an empirical study of the involvement of stakeholders in the implementation of the MA Literature Curriculum at Kabale University using e-Learning approach. The study used a mixed method approach of both qualitative and quantitative techniques. In this study, curriculum stakeholders were found to significantly influence curriculum development, hence collaboration with these stakeholders through feedback, critique and advice can only serve to meld the content and method of delivery of the curriculum. This study extends the application of a modified curriculum development process model based on ADDIE (analysis, design, development implementation and evaluation). It recognizes the different stakeholders and their input for curriculum innovation. Therefore, identifying, understanding and managing stakeholders’ involvement in curriculum implementation is a key driver in the curriculum development. This paper is not concerned with comparing and exploring possible techniques of identifying university stakeholders with the aim of choosing the most suitable one, but it is intended to clarify on the categorization of the internal and external stakeholders.Item Open Access Corporate Governance and Business Management, A Case Study of Equity Bank-Kampala, Uganda(International Journal of Research, 2021) Eliab Mpora, Byamukama; Frank, Hagumamina; Moses, Agaba; Chrisostom, Oketch; Arthur, SundayThe study examined the effect of corporate governance on business management in commercial banks in Uganda using Equity Bank as a case study. this was guided by the flowing objectives to establish the effect of transparency on business management, to examine the effect of accountability on business management, and to establish the effect of board composition on business management at Equity Bank. The study will be guided by both Principal Agency Theory and stakeholder theory. The study comprised 100 respondents sampled out of the total population of 134 employees being selected randomly from the Equity Bank. Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient for transparency and business management was r = 0.633, which was positive with probability value (p = 0.000) that is less than α = 0.01 level of significance, showing a positive relationship between transparency and organizational performance at the one per cent level of significance. The findings on the effect of transparency and business management revealed a significant relationship. The management of the bank should ensure that the generated financial reports are accurate, relevant and reliable so as to enhance decision making at the bank which would in turn have a positive effect on the performance of the bankItem Open Access Directive leadership style and staff motivation in private universities in Uganda: a case of Kampala International University(Kabale University Interdisciplinary Research Journal (KURJ), 2022) Chrisostom, Oketch; Gerald, K. KaryeijaThis study was conducted to establish the effect of directive leadership style on staff motivation in Private Universities in Uganda taking Kampala International University as a case study. Two specific objectives guided the study: (i) to examine the effect of directive leadership style on initiation of effort among staff of Kampala International University, and (ii) to establish the effect of directive leadership style on persistence of behavior among staff of Kampala International University. The study adopted a cross sectional survey design in collection of data from a sample of 111 respondents with the aid of self –administered questionnaires. Research findings indicated that whereas supervisor’s instructions accommodates innovativeness by giving employees guidelines on how to execute their tasks, they do not exactly tell employees what to do, they do not appropriately schedule work to be done, they do not set key performance indicators and that directive leadership style is not sufficient in enabling employees persevere during times of hardship let alone failing to strike a work-life-balance. The study concludes that though directive leadership style has significant and positive effect to initiation of effort and persistence of behavior among staff, little has been done to fully operationalize it. It is recommended that managers should use the style in letting employees have a sense of direction, schedule for them tasks, and above all, set key performance indicators upon which to appraise staff.Item Open Access Supportive Leadership Style and Staff Motivation in Private Universities in Uganda: Case of Kampala International University(Global Journals, 2020) Chrisostom, Oketch; Ruth Komunda, TumwijukyeThis study examined the effect of supportive leadership style on staff motivation in private universities in Uganda taking a case of Kampala International University. The study was guided by two specific objectives: (i) to examine the effect of supportive leadership style on energy to work among staff in Kampala International University, and (ii) to examine the effect of supportive leadership style on sustenance of behavior among staff in Kampala International University. The study hypothesized that (i) “supportive leadership style has no significant effect on energy to work among staff in private universities in Uganda” and (ii) “supportive leadership style has no significant effect on sustenance of behavior among staff in private universities in Uganda”. The study adopted a descriptive correlational design to collect data from a sample of 111 respondents with the aid of self –administered questionnaire.
