Item Restricted Investigating the Effect of Coffee Husk Ash as Partial Replacement of Cement in Concrete C-15.(Kabale University, 2024) Ainembabazi, EdinaThis study explored the impact of incorporating Coffee Husk Ash (CHA) as a partial substitute for cement in concrete, aiming to lower costs and provide a sustainable disposal option for agricultural waste. CHA, obtained from the combustion of coffee husks, was added in varying proportions of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% by weight of cement, with a mix ratio of 1:1.5:3 and a water-cement ratio of 0.6. Compressive strength tests were performed at 7, 14, and 28 days of curing. The findings revealed that compressive strength increased with the addition of CHA up to 5%, in comparison to the 0% control sample; however, strength decreased significantly beyond this point. Consequently, it is advised to use CHA as a partial cement replacement at a maximum of 5%, as this not only improves compressive strength but also provides environmental advantages and lowers the costs associated with concrete production.
