The study found out that the cultural sites face a number of challenges including poor marketing for cultural products, limited resources to develop these sites, westernization which is making the people of Kabale to loose culture, failure to transfer important information on culture sites from generation to generation and lack of government support in the sustainability of cultural sites. The study again came up with some recommendations to some of the challenges mentioned above such as adopting teaching culture in our primary schools, promoters and intermediaries in tourism to consider cultural tourism as an important aspect of tourism, seminars on tourism in conjunction with cultural sites should be done, local government conserving creating accessibility in terms of roads, and investors consider investing in cultural tourism. More to that, suggestion to develop heritage sites and tourism in general were also revealed namely: informing local communities about how important is tourism to them, more research to be done about heritage tourism to come up with all the solutions to weaknesses in sector, and gazetting cultural sites as protected areas of value by the government should also be considered for the development of cultural heritage. It was guided by the objectives which included; assessing the extent to which bride price practices affect the Management of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against women in Kabale District, examining the effect of cultural norms on the Management of Sexual and Gender Violence in Kabale District, and to establish the extent to which the composition of LC courts affects the relationship between socio-cultural factors and management of sexual and gender-based violence. The researcher used a descriptive survey, which was cross-sectional because the respondents could give their views freely. Data collection methods used in the study included Questionnaires and Focus group discussions. The researcher employed a content analysis method to analyze the data. The emerging themes and opinions were properly analyzed, and compared with the information that was obtained in the literature review. Data was then manually analyzed using a calculator and presented in chronological and logical order. The study findings showed that there was a significant positive relationship between bride price practices and the Management of SGBV against women. With this, it can be summarized that bride payments in Kabale District often served to limit women's rights within family settings and communities. In addition, the bride price meant women's fear of returning to their natal homes without being able to repay the bride price. It also means that women are restricted from legally reporting their spouses to the authorities and bride price practices were found to cause intimidation and isolation of women. Key numerical findings reveal a significant positive relationship between cultural norms and the Management of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against Women with the following summarized that violence against women is the cultural norm, Women are culturally regarded as subordinate and subjected to violent beating. Survivors of Sexual Gender Violence are afraid of societal humiliation and rarely supported by their families and communities. Based on the inferential statistics obtained earlier, a significant positive relationship was established between the composition of LC courts and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against Women. With the following summarized Sexual and Gender violence issues were locally addressed to LC courts whenever domestic resolving of such matters failed while most LC courts discriminated against women than males despite females reporting more of the SGBV cases. In addition, fair SGBV cases hearing discrepancies were common and found to negatively affect more women. Finally, some of SGBV's complaints were delayed and affected by fewer LC Court members who had not been trained to handle cases. The researcher recommends that cases/incidences of Sexual and Gender Violence be handled through engaging clan elders, and local leadership in formulating more local family bride price guidelines upon which such practices should be based. This will ensure equal family justice including rights for both men and women thus drawing stability in such families. The researcher recommends that the technocrats in Kabale District train clan leaders and members of LC Courts on the Management of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against women. This is because these are highly respected by community members and are easily accessible by survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.Item Open Access Association of Family Well-Being Parenting Style and Child Care in Southern Division Kabale District.(Kabale University, 2022) Niyomigisha, SaviourThe study explored the association between family well-being parenting style and child care in Southern Division Kabale District, Uganda. From the 231 questionnaires distributed in the parishes a total of 165 were collected and used in the analysis. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. The research used a cross-sectional study design. Research findings showed that family well-being includes the safety, health, and financial stability of all family members, promoting well-being involves understanding and addressing child, youth, and caregiver functioning in physical, behavioral, social, and cognitive areas, clearly the most important characteristic is the health status of the parents, which declines with age, that marital status, employment, and the presence of young children in the household are three factors that often are thought to be associated with a decreased ability or willingness of daughters to provide care, Parents/caregivers have been forced to figure out ways to meet their families' most basic needs despite job insecurity, income loss, acute concerns about health and safety, emotional distress among both parents/caregivers and their children is higher in families facing more material hardship. The study concludes that as expected, the higher the authoritative style was, the lower the parents' perception of a difficult child and referred problems. On the contrary, parents who reported higher scores in the authoritarian style reported that their children were particularly difficult, and they reported higher difficulties in their children. Both mothers and fathers showed the same pattern. Therefore, being authoritative has an indirect protective effect on a child's behavioral problems, because it is related to less perception of a difficult child. On the contrary, being authoritarian increases the child's problems, also because parents consider more difficult their children. This is true for mothers and fathers, although, mothers were significantly more influenced by the perception of their child as difficult. The study recommends that awareness through seminars should be provided to the communities to equip the population with the knowledge to handle their children. The government through the Ministry of gender should sensitize the masses in case of such issues as poor child care to equip the community with special knowledge of handling the situation. Kabale district should also sensitize the communities about the effects of domestic violence on childrenItem Open Access Challenges Facing Small and medium Tourism Enterprises around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: A Case Study of Nkuringo Area.(Kabale University, 2013) Luke, HakizimanaThis study sought to investigate the challenges encountered by small and medium tourism enterprises around Bwindi Impenetrable National park.
