The developing countries like Uganda for example normally suffer from high economic loss due to damage to valuable crops like groundnuts. The crop is usually under attack by vertebrate pests including rodent and millipede pests and insect pests during the time period of germination, podding, harvesting and storage. This recent research study shows that most of the crop damage and economic loss were caused by rodent pests. Vertebrate rodent pests include Mus musculus (house mouse) Rattus norvegicus caused a very significant damage to groundnuts Rodents damage the seeds, standing crop and food items stored in households. While millipedes always preferred germinating and podding seeds with a good moisture content. The methodology of the study simply consisted of the preparation of trial field from Adukule village in kapelebyong district. The pests that caused damage to the crop were observed during their feeding times; and pictures taken (for millipedes). The results showed that that both rodent pests and millipede pest are all contributing to the declining groundnut production in the country. In order to reduce this loss, some vertebrate pest management practices have suggested in this work which include some mechanical methods for trapping, killing and pushing of vertebrate pests.
