Kabale: Kabale University.http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12493/2071This study investigated the impact of ethnic conflicts on the development of the Buganda Kingdom, a key cultural and political entity in Uganda. Historically, ethnic conflicts have significantly influenced Buganda's socio-economic and political landscape, affecting governance structures, resource distribution, and social cohesion. The research focused on analyzing the socio-economic effects of ethnic conflicts, identifying their root causes, and assessing the effectiveness of existing conflict resolution strategies within the Buganda Kingdom in Wakiso District. The methodology included a thorough analysis of historical records, archival sources, and existing literature to understand the dynamics of ethnic tensions and their impact on development initiatives in Buganda. The findings indicate that ethnic conflicts have historically obstructed the kingdom's development by disrupting governance, deepening social divisions, and hindering economic progress. The study concludes that there is an urgent need for reconciliation, peacebuilding, and inclusive governance to address ethnic tensions and promote sustainable development in Buganda. Based on these findings, the study recommends fostering inter-ethnic dialogue, strengthening governance institutions, investing in socio-economic development programs, and enhancing education and awareness to mitigate the negative effects of ethnic conflicts and support long-term development in Buganda.en-USAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 United StatesImpactEthnic ConflictsDevelopmentBuganda KingdomWakiso DistrictImpact of Ethnic Conflicts on the Development of the Buganda Kingdom.
