Abstract
The major purpose of this Research was to assess the drivers of wetland degradation and its impact on livelihood:: a case study of Kiruruma wetland in Rubanda district. The study is guided by three objectives namely: to identify the drivers of the degradation of Kiruruma wetland in Rubanda district, to determine the impacts of the degradation of the wetland on the livelihoods of people around Kiruruma wetland, Rubanda district and to analyze the existing and potential intervention measures of controlling degradation of Kiruruma wetland in Rubanda district. The study was based on a descriptive design and mostly relied on primary data collected using questionnaires and interviews. The study is to generate both qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data is to be analyzed by recording and establishing common themes that are used in interviewing and questioning /consulting participants.
