Item Restricted SACCOs and Agricultural Production in Uganda: A Case Study of Kitenga Village in Kebisoni Sub-County Rukungiri District.(Kabale University, 2024) Nitwikiriza, RachealThe study examined the effect of SACCOs on agricultural production in Uganda. A case study of Kebisoni sub-county, Rukungiri District. The study was guided by three objectives which were: to assess the services offered by SACCOs in improving agriculture in the Kebisoni sub-county, Rukungiri district, to assess the effect of the SACCOS loans on agricultural development in Kebisoni sub-county, Rukungiri district, to assess how SACCOs affect income levels of members in Kebisoni sub-county, Rukungiri district. A target population of 123 respondents was considered for the study. These are administrative officers, the accounting department, the finance department, community members, employees, and shareholders. Both simple random and purposive sampling techniques in identifying the study sample population. The methods that were used in data collection included surveys, observation, and interviews. Data collected was edited, coded, entered into the computer, and analyzed with Excel, a Microsoft statistical package, the results were presented in tables. According to the findings, 100% of the respondents agreed that there services offered by SACCOs in improving agriculture in the Kebisoni sub-county, Rukungiri district included; general agriculture loans, insurance services, depository services, market access, capacity building and training, environment sustainability service, supporting the community, liquidity Management Solutions services. The study revealed the effects of the SACCOS loans on agricultural development in the Kebisoni sub-county, Rukungiri district and these included helping farmers to send their children to school and empowering the marginalized families, boosting food production, offering advisory services to farmers, SACCOS offering educative programs to farmers about better methods of farming, provision of emergency housing loans, SACCOS helps in Saving and mobilization, poverty reduction and strengthening of economic resilience, promote agribusiness enterprise. From objective three, the study indicated how do SACCOs affect the income levels of members in the Kebisoni sub-county, Rukungiri district and these included supporting income generating activities, participation in a SACCO often instills financial discipline among members, SACCOS often offer lower interest rates on loans compared to traditional financial institutions, SACCOS encourage a culture of saving among members, SACCOs may engage in community development projects funded by their activities, SACCOs may support entrepreneurial initiatives among their members, members can use SACCO loans to start or expand businesses
