Item Open Access Influence of Branding on Consumer Behavior: Case of Manhattan Hotel, Kabale Municipality Kigongi.(Kabale University, 2019) Mugisha, IanThis study investigated the role of branding on consumer behavior, and how it can influence them on how they can access the hotel for services. The aim of the study was to investigate how branding can provide value and how it can influence guest's to pick a hotel. Those objectives of this research were to analyze the influence of branding on consumer behavior, hence answering the researcher's questions. Manhattan Hotel Kabale served as the case study for this thesis. The concepts of branding, and the respective travel motivation have been researched by the researcher; as well as the luxury hospitality hotel company, and the example. of the hotel group Manhattan Hotel Kabale. In order to produce a balanced outcome, the researcher decided to address the matter from both sides: supply and demand. An in---depth interview with the Manager of the Manhattan Hotel Kabale, was carried out and served as the supply side (hotel company) representation; while a survey with the respective hotel's guests served as the demand side representation. The study found that the concept of branding allows a company to standout in its marketplace. Furthermore, according to the 51 guests who completed the survey, the study found that the important characteristics when choosing a hotel are location, followed by hotel facilities and level of service. Concerning guest loyalty, the supply side (hotel) believes that loyal guests are created via exceptional service. Findings from the survey showed that the hotel guests' ( demand side) loyalty was a ranging between committed and non---committed guests. Regarding how a brand provides value, Manhattan Hotel Kabale ensures quality via the Manhattan DNA: five values set by the hotel company to incorporate with service delivery throughout all guest touch points. In addition, the hotel conducts internal and external checks to guarantee service quality. Manhattan's values and the checks conducted by the hotel were found to be effective, as the survey showed that a remarkable percentage of the sample of guests would spread positive word---of---mouth about their respective stay. The findings of the paper are vital, as they explain the significance of branding on the respective travel motivation.Item Open Access Unique Design of Learning Studio Spaces: A Case Study of The Department of Applied Design and Fine Art Kabale University.(Kabale University, 2019) Akatwijuka, OnesmusEvery design institute must have modified art studios which are designed in order to manage or facilitate experimental or practical and revisable or theoretical visual artist' work comfortably. (Sjoholm, 2013). The literature review of the study is based on what an art studio is, its importance, features and various types of art studios as well as the methods used in designing art studio space using the objectives of the study. The designing of learning spaces or Art Studios will be supported by known scholars who explain the Art Studio space and interior space management using the objectives of the study. According to (Wikipedia, 2018), A studio is an artist or worker's workroom. It can be for the purpose of acting, architecture, painting, pottery (ceramics), sculpture, origami, woodworking, scrapbooking, photography, graphic design, filmmaking, animation, industrial design, radio or television production broadcasting or the making of music. The term is also used for the workroom of dancers, often specified to dance studio (Eshelman Evans, 2002). A studio art classroom has unique learning needs and safety considerations (Bartel, 2007). Any Interior work done without consideration of space management principles can therefore not be called perfect, which should not even be useful and also durable or durable but not useful, or either having both these should be without beauty. (Slotkis, 2002). Therefore, understanding the concept of "place" provides an important framework for the way people form relationships with the built environment. The concepts of "third place," place attachment, and distance each have an impact on how designed social spaces are used and liked. Designers can encourage walking and the use of social spaces among residents (Campbell, 2014 ). The evolution of the artist's studio, from renaissance Bottega to assembly line that, the French term for studio, atelier, in addition to designating an artist's studio is used to characterize the studio of a fashion designer. The studio of any artist, especially from the 15th to the 19th centuries, characterized all the assistants, thus the designation of paintings as "from the workshop of..." or "studio of..." In contemporary, English language use, "atelier" can also refer to the Atelier Method, a training method for artists that usually takes place in a professional artist's studio. (Sjoholm, 2013)Item Restricted Branding as a Tool of Advertisement in Hotels in Kabale Town: A Case Study of Gorilla Trek Camp.(Kabale University, 2019) Asiimwe, EltonThe study was about the effects of branding as a tool advertising in gorilla trek camp hotel in kabale town. It was based on the following objectives; To identify branding strategy that fits and is specific for gorilla trek camp, to implement the strategies, evaluating if the strategies implemented can work out. A descriptive survey design was used whereas questionnaires and interviews were used to gather data from the respondents. The study findings indicate that business cards, custom t-shirts, aprons, meal menus, brochures, stickers and calendars are commonly used as branding tools in gorilla trek cam while electronic advertising, is rarely used as a branding tool in gorilla trek camp. In the field of agriculture, use of proper method of irrigation is important on both the farmer and the crops. The advantage of using this method is that it reduces human intervention and still ensure proper irrigation by supplying adequate water to the crops. The project uses at mega microcontroller which is programmed to receive both analog and digital input signal of varying moisture condition of the soil through the sensing arrangement. This is achieved by using an op-amp as comparator which acts as interface between the sensing arrangement and the microcontroller. Once the controller receives this signal, it generates an output that drives a relay for operating the water pump. An LCD display is also interfaced to the microcontroller to display status of the soil and water pump. The sensing arrangement is made by using two stiff metallic rods inserted into the field at a distance. Connections from the metallic rods are interfaced to the control unit.Item Restricted Paving Walkway Towards the Newly Constructed Toilet.(Kabale University, 2020) Ainebyona, GodwinThis project helped us to relate the theoretical work and the practical work. Besides a lot of concrete waste material continues to emerge out there being disposed off with less concern for the interests of the environment. This study investigated the suitability of using recycled concrete material as potential aggregates for fresh concrete production. Hardened concrete cubes of unknown compressive strength were randomly hammered to obtain the recycled aggregates that were used for experimentation. The study entailed evaluation of several properties on the recycled aggregates obtained and the natural aggregates as controls which included the particle size distribution, aggregate crushing, moisture content, water absorption and specific gravity. Several other tests were performed on fresh and hardened concrete produced from both recycled aggregates and natural aggregates such as the slump test and compressive strength test. The percentage of replacement of the natural aggregates with the recycled aggregates was at 100%. The results obtained showed that there was a potential increase in consistency of the concrete made from both recycled coarse and fine aggregates though with a slight decrease in the compressive strength. The results obtained from concrete made from natural aggregates were slightly higher than the characteristic strengths. The study concluded that despite the deviations in the properties, recycled concrete material was suitable for production of concrete since the deviations were still within the acceptable criteria emphasized by the ministry of works and transport.Item Open Access A Project Report on the Work Carried out on the Medical Clinic At Nyabikoni Campus Kabale University.(Kabale University, 2020) Kemigisha, GloriaThe information contained in this report is based on the work l physically did as a project, my personal research using the many available resources and interactions l had with different experts on our faculty of engineering and technology. The very basis of construction of any building, residential house or dams, bridges, culverts, canals etc. is designing. The foremost basic in structural engineering is the design of simple basic components and members of a building viz., Slabs, Beams, Columns and Footings. For their design, an architectural design is prepared using the Auto CAD. In order to design them, it is important to first obtain the plan of the particular building that is, positioning of the particular rooms such that they serve their respective purpose and also suiting to the requirement and comfort of the inhabitants. Thereby depending on the suitability; plan layout of beams and the position of columns are fixed. Thereafter, the vertical loads are calculated namely the dead load and live load from IS: 875. In this project, the design of G+2 floors Hostel building is done according to the Indian standards. IS456 is to be used for the reinforcement design. IS 875 is to be used for the estimation of all the loads on the structure viz. Dead Load, Live Load, and Wind Load. Once the loads are obtained, the slabs are designed. Designing of slabs depends upon whether it is one-way or a two-way slab, the end conditions and the loading. The analysis and designing of beams & columns are done by the “STAAD PRO” software tool. The footings are designed manually, after completion of designing the detailed estimation has to be carried out. This documentation is about the design of a two storied hostel at Kabale University. The ideas of this design were obtained from review of architectural textbooks, journals and building review reports. It also contains how our group intends and will carry out the design process of the hostel. The writing contains three chapters whereby; Chapter one is the introduction of the proposal that states the contents of the background of the university, how the problem was identified and why the project of hostel design was chosen ahead of others. Chapter two contains the literature review, works and related information by other scholars about design of structures. Chapter three outlines the methodology of how the project will be done; these are sequential methods for the process.
